Today I’m grateful to have the resources needed to get veterinary care for our little critters.
Yesterday I was in a training and we practiced saying, “we get to” instead of we “have to”. I started by saying “I have to take the dog to the vet tomorrow”. Through the exercise, I rephrased it by saying “I get to take the dog to the vet. I get to provide him excellent care and pain relief this weekend”. What a difference this made to my thinking. Not only for the vet appointments, but for everything.
The Vet is a “get” to do for us. I am acutely aware that not everyone can take their animals to specialists for care. Not everyone can spend money for acupuncture or X-rays to get a diagnosis. We can only afford this type of care because of Tim’s job for the veterinarian hospital and his steep discount.
Our critters mean the world to us. And they have had health issues as they mature. We will do anything for them and it’s a horrible feeling when you have to choose between money and life. I’m grateful that the decision is made easier for us due to the discount and access to tremendous care at Veterinarian offices.
We get to take the critters to the vet. We get to take them for acupuncture, for blood tests, to get special diets, and other treatments. We are so fortunate and I’m incredibly grateful.
