Today I’m grateful my Mom, Ann, is safely home in New York after receiving her radiation treatment in Oregon. I’m grateful she trusted my sister and me enough to trust we could get her back and forth from appointments, help her rest, and safely house her for three and a half months.

I’m grateful for my sister Trish who did the most for my Mom. I’m grateful that Trish has a home with a generous space that is set apart from the rest of the house so Mom could get rest and quiet when she wanted; but also spend play time with Trish’s kids.

I’m grateful that Mom took a chance to travel out here. I’m grateful that she got through the treatment, and I’m grateful we are all still speaking after three and a half months living in the same area- something we haven’t done for about 33 years.

I’m grateful.
