I’m so lucky to have people in my life who worry about me, just as much as I worry about them. It’s a blessing and a curse of course – for the worrier and the person who is worried the other is worrying too much.
My sister Trish is one of those such people. We’ve always been that way- even when we were younger and seemingly hated each other (hate’s a strong word, but my guess is it would be pretty accurate at times growing up). But even then, when we saw each other as enemies – we always were concerned about the other’s well being when it came to how we were each being treated or feeling.
As we’ve grown older, that’s only gotten stronger. Of course the worry can be overwhelming for both of us. We are learning to worry about ourselves first, then the other (it’s a learning process…).
My worrying sister has been reassuring me not to worry, and I the same. And she gave me the following lyrics to “Blackbird” by The Beatles to get me through our current worries. It’s been running in my head for the last twelve hours. NONSTOP (Thanks Trish).
Blackbird
The Beatles
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.
Into the light of the dark black night.
Into the light of the dark black night.
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
