I'm in the need of returning focus to gratitude. Today, it was easy. I'm grateful for the trees that return to life in the spring. I'm grateful for the tiny buds on branches that hold the promise of leaves or flowers. I'm grateful for what it means: routine, new life, rebirth, survival, and reunion.
Time for Gratitude: March 8th, 2016
Today I'm grateful my Mom, Ann, is safely home in New York after receiving her radiation treatment in Oregon. I'm grateful she trusted my sister and me enough to trust we could get her back and forth from appointments, help her rest, and safely house her for three and a half months. I'm grateful for…
Time for Lyrics: Things I Regret
I've shared Brandi Carlile song lyrics before. She's a songwriter who speaks to me in many ways and who I admire very much. One of her songs "Things I Regret" is my latest personal anthem. I appreciate it because I think it can be easy to get lost in the sea of regret or the…
Time for Memories: Lesson Learned in the Third Grade
As my regular readers know (all four of you), I am always looking for something or inspiration so that I can write. I long ago realized that the people who I have met in my life- for better or for worse- have taught me so much. Whether someone just crossed my path for a moment…
Time for Poetry: Bully Immune
Mom pointed out this poem seems to come out of the blue. True. Just playing with writing and reflection. In 5th-8th grades I was severely bullied. Sad it happened but I'm ok. But it had a huge impact on my life and who I am today. So writing...reflecting. Bully Immune Memories bring me cold. The…
Time to Remember: Alexander Lee
Four years ago today was the darkest moment of my life. The moment my sister's first child came into the world stillborn. The dark came in-without a warning- and it clouded over us- like a nightmare with no end. I'm not sure what was worse- the sadness and unjustifiable truth that Alexander was gone before…
Time for Gratitude: January 5, 2016
Feeling grateful today for the satisfaction of a good ten minute nap. Sometimes it's all I need to get through the day.
Time for Gratitude: December 29th, 2015
It's too easy to let time go by without writing in the blog. Life gets in the way. So for today- just to get my toes wet again in the blogosphere...I am revisiting my gratefuls. Today, I am grateful for what's beyond the horizon. I used to look out at the Puget Sound from my Grandmother…
Time for Gratitude: December 9, 2015
Today I'm grateful for rain boots, umbrellas, and galoshes. Things I resented needing as a child are now a necessity as an adult.
Time for Gratitude: November 30, 2015
I’m feeling grateful for gratitude. I’ve tried to document my daily grateful for each day in November. The process of thinking upon what there is to be grateful for becomes easier as the days pass. I notice myself thinking about my gratitude for cool air, for pug kisses, for time with family, for socks, for…
